Equipped with state-of-the-art Prusa Mini and Creality Ender 3 V2 Neo printers, we provide the tools you need to bring your imaginative designs to life.
3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, works by depositing layers of material, typically plastic, on top of each other to create a three-dimensional object from a digital model.
The process begins with designing your model using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, which allows you to create or modify your design with precision.
Once your design is ready, it's converted into a digital file that guides the printer in creating your object layer by layer.
When planning your 3D printing project, consider the size and complexity of your design, the type of material, and the resolution you desire as these factors will affect the printing time and the final result.

Here are some sites where you can search for and download 3D designs for printing.
MakerBot's Thingiverse is a thriving design community for discovering, making, and sharing 3D printable things. As the world's largest 3D printing community, we believe that everyone should be encouraged to create and remix 3D things, no matter their technical expertise or previous experience.
PrusaPrintables is a vibrant online community and marketplace specifically tailored for makers, designers, and 3D printing enthusiasts. Users can share, download, and discuss printable models, while also accessing a plethora of resources including printing guides, tips, and the latest news in the 3D printing world.
This is the software you need to print. The file (usuallay an STL) needs to be converted to a filetype the individual printer can understand.
This is the software necessary to use the Prusa printer(s). Download link is above, but app is also available on the Mac workstation in the Makerspace.
This is the software necessary to use the Creality Ender printer. Download link is above, but app is also available on the Mac workstation in the Makerspace.
These are 3D modeling apps. TinkerCAD is much easier to learn but is not nearly as capable as a "real" CAD program like Fusion360.
TinkerCAD is an intuitive, browser-based 3D design and modeling tool that is perfect for individuals new to CAD and 3D printing. With its user-friendly interface and a rich library of shapes and components, users can easily create, modify, and export their designs for 3D printing. TinkerCAD also offers an interactive learning environment with tutorials and lessons to get users up to speed on the basics of 3D design, making the journey from concept to creation straightforward and enjoyable.
Fusion 360 is a robust, professional-grade 3D design software developed by Autodesk, offering an integrated platform for CAD, CAM, and CAE. It provides a comprehensive set of tools and features for creating complex and precise 3D models, making it a preferred choice for professionals and experienced designers in the 3D printing community. With its cloud-based functionality, Fusion 360 facilitates collaboration among teams, and its extensive learning resources help users to continually advance their skills in 3D design and 3D printing.
